Cry of Fear: Where you Cry with your Friends

For those who do not know, Cry of Fear was a psychological survival horror mod for Half Life that was released late 2011 or early 2012. It was developed by a Swedish company named TeamPsyksallar, which worked on Afraid of Monsters and Resident Evil: Cold Blood. Cry of Fear was mainly a single player campaign with a side of co-op but in the future updates the team focused more on multiplayer. Recently Cry of Fear was released on Steam as its on standalone game so you did not have to have HL1 in order to play it. This also lifted the original dedicated server that you would have to use in order to play the game co-op. The mod was nominated for ModDB's Mod of the Year last year but was overthrown by DayZ.
Heres a quick trailer showing what Cry of Fear really is.

Now, you might be thinking, "Holy crap James, this looks scary, I might have to shit bricks." I will not lie but the single player campaign did make me jump many times as it also has a creepy atmosphere and story along with creepy characters. Though it is great to pull a round off of the single player campaign, the real fun is in the co-op campaigns. It turns all of the horror into funny things that your friend can yell as he gets eaten by a zombie as you giggle from afar. I do feel as the multiplayer is the key to having fun over the summer as you and your buds will have a blast getting blown in the face by Simon's shotgun.
So the co-op campaign is the key to have fun so lets go into further details with that. You and your three friends can download the game and almost immediately play the cooperative gamemode. You go through many different maps as you go reverse from the single player. As the protagonist progresses in the story so are the cops. If Simon (the protagonist) ends at his neighborhood, the cops are retracing his steps by starting off at his house. Its not that hard to set up a server so its incredible fun at a hassle free cost.
Yesterday,
the Cry of Fear team released a new co-op campaign called Manhunt.
TK called me up yesterday and we pulled off an hour or two playing it. The amount of fun we had was over 9,000 as we always laughed every other minute. Unfortunately, TK anticipated for a full group but two people was enough at the time.
Here is some footage that I recorded of the new content.

So I highly encourage you to download the game and play with us as it is a blast the whole time. You can really play it with anyone now since it no longer requires you to have Half Life. The game is even better with a full group as you encounter more conflicts about ammo and weapons and who's going first in a dark hallway. Like I said before Cry of Fear is a free standalone game that can be downloaded via Steam or Desura. Its a blast from start to finish and is a great game to pass the time.

It's co-op? I thought it was just single player. I may have to download this to play, how many people for co-op?

I don't really like horror games, but I can make an exception for this since I'm not the only one in it.
