A New Monitor!
« on: August 16, 2013, 01:32:02 PM »
So it is about time for me to get a new monitor. I've had my current 21" monitor for about 7(ish) years and I'm interested in getting a 27" monitor. I plan on keeping my old one and setting up dual monitors (The new monitor being the main display). I posted this because I would like some help in finding the perfect monitor that I'm looking for for just the right price. I don't want to spend more than $300 (might be hard to find a good one, I don't know much about them) and I'm looking for one with IPS and a non-reflective screen.

Thanks for your help.

For a nice looking setup, I suggest monitors that are or look the same. 21" is okay, but the best is 23-23.6". Whatever you do, try to get similar ones. And grab a monitor with no less than a 50,000,000:1 contrast ratio. But my first priority would be two of the same size

Since I don't know anything about monitors above 24", I don't really have an opinion on them, but as Marvell said 2 23-23.6" monitors works very well.  If you get them on sale (Newegg normally has them for $100-130 every 2 months or so) you can get 2 of them for less than a 27" monitor.

I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for the boners of the elderly.

Hmm, sounds like that'd be a good idea. I'll have to keep checking sites I guess.

If you want a nice 21" monitor, I'd recommend this one:

It is a good bang for your buck IMO.

For cheap:

Fucking fantastic monitor, great color, 1440p, DVI.
A few downsides (Like you HAVE to use 1440p output, no HDMI, shit speakers), but it's a good monitor.

Another (even better maybe) is

pretty much all built-in speakers are meh at best, at least from what I've seen.

I wouldn't go 27 inch if i were you, just because the pixel per inch ratio is a bit low. Personally I'd go for two 23-24 inches, and keep the 21 inch (maybe set up vertically) as a third monitor.

But if you insist on 27, here's one my friend has that's very sleek http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/hp-pavilion-27xi/4505-3174_7-35603096.html

Requesting lock. I picked up two 23' monitors (widescreen).

EDIT: Nevermind, forgot I could lock it. LOCKED.
