I asked Scar to ask Suika about it, sorry man, it ain't gonna' happen :c
I can make a script for that, hold on.

Edit:

I have adjusted it so it won't open if you are dead + Round is active

The problem is, The hook it's called on to open, PlayerBindPress, is called both when you press a key, and release it, so the chat prints it twice, which i'm not sure if you guys give a fuck or not. I'll look into it though.

Code: [Select]
hook.Add("PlayerBindPress", "Scorpy's Simple Chatbox - Open", function(ply, bind, pressed)
    if string.find(bind, "messagemode2") && (!ply:Alive()) && (GetRoundState() == ROUND_ACTIVE) then

        ply:ChatPrint("Sorry, You cannot talk during the round in global chat!")
        return true

    elseif string.find(bind, "messagemode2") then
    Chatbox:Open(true)
        return true

    elseif string.find(bind, "messagemode") then
        Chatbox:Open(false)
        return true
    end
end)

Edit: Coding at 5 am is wonky. I ran into many more problems, and I'm going to look into this more. Because I feel like im really dumb.

TELETUBBIES (Needs further looking into)
This needs no further looking into, but I can confirm it works. Looks silly as a teletubbie would, but works (and is awesome).

I'm aware, hence why I would replace the unused ones with those suggested here so as to not have too many.

MW2 Terminal map:
    - No, we had it before and it was removed for a reason.

Weapons pack:
   - This is models only

Another weapons pack:
   - I think this is only models as well but I could be wrong

Assassin's Creed III Tomahawk:
    - Looks pretty interesting

Star Wars Troopers (might be ragdolls):
     - These are ragdolls

Bulk Weapon:
    - We had this before too, it was pretty bad

Black Mesa (gm map):
     - If we can get somebody to put weapons on this map, I would definitely want to play it

Dragon Deagle (should be a traitor weapon, as it is very powerful):
   - No, the point of the T weapons isn't to be more pure power, they are better through silencers, accuracy, clip size etc.

I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for the boners of the elderly.

...

Edited the list, so it should be better now.

Some fresh blood was on the server today.

They said they loved the server; everything about it. Except for one thing.

The voice chat. They hated how you couldn't hear people that were further away. I don't know if this is worth changing to get more people, or if you like it how it is now.

It's just something to note.

That is just how TTT is, and it stops people from saying KOS X from the other side of the map

There has been much discussion surrounding whether or not to disable proximity chat. The fact of the matter is that while it may be inconvenient to have to be close to someone to speak, it is a much better alternative than being able to hear someone call out a traitor across the map as Ian mentioned (which would be simply unfair). Also, it adds a realism/immersion factor to the game, and that's something we shouldn't take for granted.

At the very least, that's my take on the topic.

I agree with this 100%. I also prefer the proximity chat, but it is worth noting that we could be losing players due to the chat.

And sorry about the double-posting; didn't know it was a thing. :P

Not a problem at all, just be sure to read up on the rules here. Some of them are a bit unexpected.

Another thing that I've noticed about servers without proximity chat is that everyone seems to want to talk at once, and it leads to rather headache-inducing, obnoxious experiences.

However, you do bring up a good point in the possibility of losing players to it. Should a player be expressing their concern for the system, be sure to explain why we incorporate it, and I'm sure they'd understand.

Yep, just did that, and they have now favorited the server. :D
They still don't like the chat, though. But hey, new players.

I prefer global chat because to me I see it as the upside is it's global, the downside is that once you're in it - you're in it. You can't do anything unless you hit enter and someone can easily take that time to kill you.

I can see both sides to the proposal, though.

Innately, TTT will never be realistic

I suggest just turning global on and tellin' em to stfu if they start going wonky

As much as I hate langile walking into a room with me and saying "hi zarth", and then headshotting me while I'm typing. I would much rather keep the voice chat local.
changing it for a few people isn't worth it, because others will feel the same way on the opposite side

Prepare to be amazed, most do like it local.
It provides another aspect to the game to make it more of a challenge for innocents and an ease for traitors. But if you want to get around it, simply bind the TTT radio commands and use those to call out T's. Chat is still and always will be global.

I like it local. Global is stupid. People are right in your ears all the time and you don't know who's near you. I found global servers to be just a bunch of people yelling all at the same time.

I actually haven't had anyone complain that it's proximity. A few people asked about it, but they didn't complain or leave because of it.
